The most surfed online social networking website took the internet by storm soon after its launch in February 2004 and it has surpassed numerous portals to become the world’s third largest American Web company. Today almost everybody has a face book account and still there are most of us who are not aware of what potential its basic settings can unleash.
Are you the one who is pissed off with the unending saga of candy crush requests or the one who is just fed up with people pronouncing your name invariably erroneously? Here are few pointers to help you become a master of Facebook settings and enhance your experience of social networking:
1- Check where you last logged in
You felt like going through the news feed when you were at your friends place and used his PC to do so. On your way back home you are bit perplexed and simply cannot recollect whether you logged out of the PC or not. Here is an easy way out, Log in to your account and click on the small down arrow on the upper right corner of the screen. Now select ‘settings’ and then click on the ‘security’ from the list displayed on the left ‘where you are logged in’. This will help you in tracking all the browsers where you are logged in. Click ‘End Activity’ to log out of any unwanted browser.
2- Disable read receipt ‘seen’ of Facebook messages
Many a times we don’t feel like replying to a pesky friend but that read receipt never allows you to ignore people without letting them know. Here is the crack, just disable ‘seen’ receipts by downloading facebook unseen chrome extension or by installing Chat undetected. However, you too won’t be able to see whether people have read your messages or not.
3- Access That ‘other’ Inbox
Facebook have two inboxes for you. One is the regular one and the second is that ‘other’ inbox in which you receive messages from your admirers or those who aren’t your friends. To access the second inbox, select the ‘Messages’ icon and click on ‘Other’.
4- How to look for that one post
Stop going crazy by going through your complete news feed when you are looking for that something explicit one of your friend has posted. Simply type their name and a keyword, and the post will appear in the results.
5- Export all your friends birthdays to Google calendar
Do not want to miss any birthday treat. On your events page look at the bottom right hand side where you have two links ‘Upcoming events’ and ‘Birthdays’. Copy any one of these link and open your Google calendar. Click on the down arrow next to ‘other Calendars >Add by URL, paste the URL and you are sorted.
6- Be more secure and safe
Use ’Login Approvals’ available on the ’Security’ tab, It will necessitate a password whenever you log in to your account from an unidentified gadget. While logging onto your page from an unknown device for the first time, you will require a password that will be sent to your phone number listed with your FB account.
7- Choose a trusted friend to manage your account
You can select a person who will be able to manage your account in your absence, by clicking the ’Trusted Contacts’ on the ’Security’ tab. The Trusted contacts have limited access and can change your profile picture and answer friend requests. However, they cannot publish anything or chat on your behalf.
8- Want some travelling Ideas
If you want some really cool inputs for your forthcoming vacation travelling, simply search the location and pursue photographs and posts from friends and groups.
9- Don’t want the world to know about the company you keep
A man is known by his friends and you don’t want the world to know who they are. It’s simple click your ‘Friends’ tab select ‘edit privacy’ and change friend list setting to ‘only me’.
10- Want to relive old stories
It is fun to go through old conversations with our best friends, sometimes its nostalgic and sometimes mere inquisitiveness. You can simply click the abbreviation icon in your friend’s profile and select ’See Friendship.’
